Mary Jane “MJ” Romnek, M.D., is a board-certified pediatric and adult anesthesiologist. Dr. Romnek is the chief of anesthesia, where she provides strategic leadership, oversees clinical operations and contributes to cutting-edge clinical research in pediatric anesthesiology.

Dr. Romnek completed her anesthesiologist residency at William Beaumont Health System in Royal Oak, Michigan, as chief resident, then completed her pediatric anesthesiology fellowship at Nationwide Children’s Hospital in Columbus, Ohio. Before joining Shriners Children’s Spokane, she worked as chief of the pediatric anesthesia department for Sacred Heart and lead pediatric anesthesiologist at Providence Medical Park.

She uses an evidence-based approach to implement appropriate pediatric recommendations using endotracheal tube sizings, deep extubation practices, common perioperative medications and intraoperative vital signs based on age.
