At Shriners Children's Lexington, doctors, clinicians and scientists work to find new ways to heal and support children with complex medical needs. Our research team is making breakthroughs in a number of pediatric orthopedic conditions. This work is changing the way that we care for patients with these conditions.
Through collaborations and the use of cutting-edge technology, our research team is currently:
- Optimizing bracing for clubfoot to minimize or eliminate reoccurrence or the need for surgical correction of the condition
- Determining factors related to a loss of reduction in pediatric forearm fractures
- Assessing outcomes of guided growth in Blount's disease
- Investigating oxygen levels in scoliosis patients pre- and post-surgery to determine any decreases in lung function
- Accurately measuring gait asymmetry to improve overall care for children with prosthetics
- Translating patient-reported outcomes to improve overall care for children with idiopathic scoliosis and cerebral palsy
