Our Affiliations and Partners

Shriners Children’s Chicago and the University of Illinois work together to provide advanced care for children with orthopedic and other specialized pediatric conditions.

As part of our comprehensive approach to care, Shriners Children’s Chicago works with University of Illinois Hospital & Health Sciences (UI Health) to develop high-quality, innovative treatment programs for our patients. We also work with consulting physicians from some of the leading academic medical centers in the Chicagoland area.

Our affiliation with UI Health helps leverage the clinical expertise of both of our organizations to provide the best care possible for children with specialty pediatric and orthopedic conditions. Physicians and specialists from UI Health also work closely with our clinical team to provide anesthesia and other specialized medical care to our patients.

Pediatric orthopedic surgeons from Shriners Children's Chicago also staff an orthopedic clinic for children at UI Health's facilities.

For our patients who require advanced imaging services including magnetic resonance imaging (MRIs) and CT scans as part of their evaluation, UI Health specialists and facilities are available to accommodate Shriners Children's patients.

Extending Our Care Through Blank Children’s Hospital

As part of our commitment to serving more children in more places, Shriners Children’s Chicago provides full-time orthopedic clinical services at Blank Children's Hospital's Orthopedic Clinic in Iowa. The physicians at Blank Children's also collaborate with our Chicago Shriners Children's team on case reviews and discussions related to the advancement of specialized orthopedic care.

Children who visit the clinic in Iowa with conditions beyond their scope of care, such as a complex spine issue or even something non-orthopedic, may be referred to our Chicago facility or other specialists within the Shriners Children's network.

Promoting Education and Innovation

Our collaboration with area academic medical centers, including UI Health, also helps us further our mission of educating future physicians in orthopedics, craniofacial plastic surgery and pediatric rehabilitation medicine. With our recognized pediatric expertise, we are a training site for residents and fellows.
