Neo-Appendicostomy

Also known as the Neo-Malone, this procedure creates a new appendix from a flap of colon which is fashioned into a tube.

Spinal Fusion Surgery

Spinal fusion surgery stabilizes and corrects the curvature of the spine; and for scoliosis and kyphosis, prevents further curvature of the spine. Stabilizing the spine can improve movement, reduce pain and restore lung function.

Arthroscopic Surgery

Arthroscopic surgery, also known as arthroscopy, is a procedure used to diagnose and treat joint conditions. Shriners Children's pediatric orthopedic surgeons treat a variety of conditions with this minimally invasive surgery option.

Vertical Expandable Prosthetic Titanium Rib (VEPTR or Titanium Rib)

A curved metal rod that is surgically implanted to help straighten the spine and separate ribs so the lungs can grow and expand as the child grows. This device can be used to treat severe chest wall deformities and scoliosis.

Chloe

Chloe prepares for a second leg lengthening surgery/ treatment plan. She traveled from her home in St. Lucia in 2018 for her first treatment. This time around, she will be cared for at Shriners Children's St. Louis for six months.
