We are improving the health and lives of our communities every day…and, we hope you join us on the journey."

Nursing Preceptor Program

The preceptor nursing development program at Shriners Children’s is a blended program consisting of interactive online learning modules and a four-hour, in-person workshop. The program is designed to provide an environment to enhance professional growth and knowledge through evidence-based practice orientation skills for the new preceptor nurse. The theoretical content provided in this dynamic program entails the principles of adult learning, professional communication and conflict resolution supporting productive real-time feedback. These fundamental core themes support the ongoing development of valued members of the SC education team resulting in the transference of clinical knowledge, role modeling and professional development for newly hired nurse preceptors.

As a professional nurse at Shriners, you can expect engaged leaders who listen to you and support your professional goals. You have a choice on where to work; we hope you will choose a healthcare organization that truly values nursing.

Clinical Advancement Program

Shriners Children’s offers a Systemwide Clinical Advancement Program (S-CAP), which provides a framework for the organization to recognize and reward clinical excellence, individual contribution and exemplary practice. S-CAP empowers the clinician to analyze their own practice, identify goals for further development aligned with organizational strategic priorities, and seek recognition for their own level of practice achieved.

The program focuses on five domains for the experienced nurse, optimizing patient outcomes and patient satisfaction, enhancement for professional and interprofessional growth maximizing Individual leadership potential, and improving the work environment.

CAP mentors will assist and guide the candidate from the beginning of the application process through the development and presentation of a professional portfolio for peer review.

Daisy Awards Program

Through the Daisy Awards™, we recognize and celebrate the extraordinary work our nurses do for patients and families every day. The DAISY recipient is surprised during work hours by the staff and patients and awards are typically announced during Nurse’s Week each year. Whether they are recognized by a member of the healthcare team, a patient or a family member, our nurses find this recognition very special and heartwarming.

We Understand the Unique Medical Needs of Children
