Philip F. Giampietro, MD, PHD
- Pediatrics
- English
Philip Giampietro, M.D., Ph.D, has been intrigued by the predictably unpredictable nature of genetics since high school and subsequently college. He had a strong family, excellent science teachers and clinicians who nurtured his interest in the field. He believes that medical genetics is a branch of medicine that pays attention to the individuality of human beings. If we can understand, at the genetic level, what makes us different, we may be able to help provide more targeted health care for a person and their family. Training in the field of pediatrics, he has long been impressed by the care that Shriners Children's provides for children. He feels fortunate to have had an association with Shriners Children's for the past five years in clinical, teaching and research endeavors. Some of his hobbies include film and drama, especially period drama. A well-crafted piece of theater or movie will also provide clues to the eventual ending. Dr. Giampietro believes that each patient is a puzzle and that teaches us something about medicine and genetics is a part of the puzzle.
