Shriners Children’s Care Everywhere connects patients and providers virtually, making it simpler and more convenient for children and families.

Telehealth appointments make visits easy and convenient. Washington Regional Medical Center announces an exciting new partnership with Shriners Children’s, bringing award-winning pediatric orthopedic care to local North Carolina families through a new telehealth clinic. This initiative aims to provide access to Shriners Children’s renowned specialists in Greenville, South Carolina, without the need for families to travel out of state. Telehealth evaluations will be available at Washington Regional Medical Center clinics throughout the region.

Telehealth clinic appointments with the internationally-recognized pediatric orthopedic specialists of Shriners Children’s Greenville will be offered to help an array of patients – from children with an ongoing diagnosis, like cerebral palsy or spinal bifida, to sports injuries or other ailments that require a shorter course of treatment.

“This partnership is part of our long-standing commitment to continually bring more services to our community,” said Frank Avignone, chief executive officer, Washington Regional Medical Center. “The reputation of Shriners Children’s speaks to the high quality of healthcare we are dedicated to making available to our patients.”

Shriners Children’s Greenville is home to the largest pediatric orthopedic team in the Carolinas, treating over 85 different orthopedic and neuromuscular conditions. Under the new agreement, Washington Regional Medical Center clinicians will facilitate the telehealth assessments with a member of the Shriners Children’s medical staff.

The telehealth clinic marks the beginning of a broader effort to enhance local access to Shriners Children’s extensive range of pediatric specialties, including care for burnsspinal cord injuries, cleft lip and cleft palate.

“Our system has vowed to reach more kids in more places,” said Bill Munley, regional administrator, Shriners Children’s. “Kids in this underserved area of North Carolina are exactly the population our mission charges us with reaching. They will be able to be evaluated by our experienced clinicians in the comfort of their doctor’s office near home. From there, a care plan can be established.”

Specialized treatment at Shriners Children’s Greenville includes motion analysis, prosthetics and orthotics, rehabilitation, outpatient services and surgical intervention when necessary.

The first telehealth clinic is scheduled to take place on September 26, 2024. To schedule an appointment, contact Washington Regional Medical Center at 252-793-7609.
