Santa Virtually Visits Patients at Shriners Children's Spokane
Ol’ St. Nick visited with patients one-on-one ahead of Christmas.
Santa delighted handfuls of Shriners Children’s Spokane patients with a special virtual visit to the hospital ahead of Christmas.
Santa’s elves were at the hospital and escorted patients into a special room with a magical window into Santa’s workshop at the North Pole. That is where Santa was able to stream live for one-on-one visits with patients and their families.
Santa’s signal was broadcast to a large television screen, allowing children to interact with him in real time with web-enabled cameras and microphones, utilizing the same technology used for the hospital’s telemedicine appointments.
Much like kids who are able to sit on Santa’s lap, patients had the opportunity to pass along their wishes for the holiday season in plenty of time for St. Nick to make his list and check it twice! After their visit, each patient received a special gift from Santa to commemorate their visit.
Santa’s visit to the Spokane hospital was part of a wider effort to visit patients in several other Shriners Children’s locations throughout the country.
