Five Physicians at Portland Shriners Hospital Recognized with Top Doctors Honor
Earlier this month, Portland Monthly Magazine announced the Top Doctors list for 2021, and five physicians from the Portland Shriners Hospital were selected and included in the section for pediatric orthopedics. Among the physicians honored as Top Doctors, only 11 were recognized in the category of pediatric orthopedics. Physicians at the Portland Shriners Hospital comprised nearly half of the entire list of physicians selected for this category, speaking to the level of care and expertise shared among the specialists at the hospital.
The Portland Shriners Hospital physicians that were included in this year’s ranking include: Jeremy Bauer, M.D., Daniel Bouton, M.D., Krister Freese, M.D., Katie Fuchs, M.D., and Ellen M. Raney, M.D. Together these physicians have performed over 3,075 combined surgical procedures during their tenures at the Portland Shriners Hospital, and conducted an average of 4,776 clinic visits a year.
“The Top Docs recognition reflects the Portland Shriners Hospital’s 96-year commitment to outstanding patient-centered, pediatric orthopaedic care,” said Dereesa Reid, hospital administrator. “We are very grateful for the Top Docs list as it allows more families to know about our services and our mission to serve all kids in our community with pediatric orthopaedic needs.”

Each year, Portland Monthly polls doctors, physician assistants and nurses in Portland to determine the best doctors in the area based on their accomplishments, education, patient satisfaction surveys and other criteria. Some questions included in the survey include: "Who would you want to have looking out for your family’s health?" and "To whom would you turn if you got sick?" The top provider list is announced each winter for the following year. 2021 is the 17th year that Portland Monthly has released this list of best doctors in the area.
