Shriners Hospitals for Children — Northern California Honored with 2020 Press Ganey Awards

Shriners Hospitals for Children — Northern California received the 2020 Press Ganey Pinnacle of Excellence Award^® for Patient Experience and the 2020 Press Ganey Guardian of Excellence Award^® for Patient Experience. Press Ganey is a leader in health care performance improvement and measurement. The accolades reflect patient satisfaction survey results in the 95th percentile for ambulatory surgery, inpatient pediatric services and outpatient services. The awards are evidence of the hospital’s top-performing and consistent patient-centric care and services.

Press Ganey evaluates data collected from surveys taken by patient families after a patient’s appointment for ambulatory surgery, inpatient pediatric and outpatient services. The survey results indicated top marks for an excellent patient experience at Shriners Hospitals for Children — Northern California.

Survey questions used to determine patient experience include:

• Ease with scheduling appointments
• Comfort in waiting areas
• Friendliness of staff
• Concern for privacy and safety
• Respect doctors showed for questions
• Doctors' communication
• Helpfulness of doctors and front desk personnel
• Respect for knowledge of child
• Instructions for home care services
• Speed of discharge process
• Overall cheerfulness of hospital

The Northern California Shriners Hospital scored in the top 5% for all categories on the survey used to gauge the level of excellence for patient experience at hospitals.

The Guardian of Excellence Award recognizes the hard-earned 95th percentile ranking in patient experience for 2019, and the 2020 Pinnacle of Excellence Award recognizes Shriners Hospital for Children — Northern California for achieving that same ranking for the third consecutive year in a row.
