Spokane Shriners Hospital Welcomes New Director of Patient Care Services

The Spokane Shriners Hospital is pleased to introduce Director of Patient Care Services & Nurse Executive Derrek Hidalgo, MBA, BSN. Derrek joins the organization from MultiCare Deaconess, where he served as the director of critical care services. Prior, Derrek held the position of director of patient care services at Loma Linda University Medical Center.

Derrek earned his Bachelor of Science Nursing from Pacific Union College, and his Master of Business Administration from Loma Linda University. Post-graduation, Derrek spent years working in intensive care units and holding various health care leadership roles. He even spent some time working in finance. He has had some exciting career opportunities as well: From 2009-2010, Derrek was the hospital administrator for a small facility in a village called Maine Soroa in Niger, West Africa.

When he is not working, you will find Derrek spending time with his wife, Kari, and children, Rian, Myles, Henry and Bennett. He loves the great outdoors, cycling and taste testing samples at Costco!

“We are very lucky and excited to welcome Derrek to our facility,” said Spokane Shriners Hospital CEO Peter Brewer. “We are confident that he will be a huge asset to our team and the future of our hospital.”
