Kiwanis Club of Greater Sacramento Honors Local Medical Professionals

Shriners Hospitals for Children — Northern California and UC Davis Recognized

The Kiwanis Club of Greater Sacramento honored medical professionals at Shriners Hospitals for Children — Northern California and UC Davis, Sacramento first responders and essential workers with the installation of a special thank you banner outside of Kiwanis Family House.

Kiwanis Family House is a nonprofit organization dedicated to providing temporary housing and support to families of seriously ill or injured children receiving care at Shriners Hospitals for Children — Northern California, UC Davis Health and other local medical facilities. Kiwanis Family House is a restful, supportive and convenient place for families to stay while their child receives long-term care or rehabilitation at surrounding health care facilities.

“Some of my fondest memories here at Kiwanis Family House are of interactions with Shriners [Hospitals] patients and families,” said executive director of Kiwanis Family House Dan Germain.

The local Kiwanians Club unveiled the banner during a socially distant, reveal-style event with club members, Kiwanis Family House employees, City of Sacramento police officers and Shriners Hospitals for Children representatives present. The banner reveal was a powerful reminder to all medical professionals and first responders that the community has not forgotten their important service.

“Kiwanis Family House continues to be an important resource for our patient families,” explained Margaret Bryan, administrator and CEO of the Northern California Shriners Hospital. “Many families come to our hospital after traveling long distances to receive emergency treatment for their child. Access to comfortable and convenient family lodging near the hospital is important for patient families who have a child receiving long-term care or rehabilitation.”

The Kiwanis Family House is located near a main thoroughfare on the medical complex campus, just a few blocks east of the Northern California Shriners Hospital. The Kiwanis mission is to serve the children of the world, making this banner’s proximity to Shriners Hospitals for Children — Northern California that much more meaningful.
