Biography

Soman Sen, M.D., is a surgeon in the department of burn surgery at Shriners Children's Northern California and assistant professor of surgery for the University of California Davis, School of Medicine. Board certified by the American Board of Surgery, Dr. Sen's extensive medical experience includes fellowships in surgical critical care and burn surgery at the University of California, Davis.

Before joining the medical team at Shriners Children's, Dr. Sen served as administrative chief resident for the department of surgery at Loyola University Medical Center. In 2004, he was named a finalist for the Chicago Committee of Trauma at the American College of Surgeons Scientific Symposium. He was recognized as a winner for Innovations in Leadership at Loyola University Medical Center in 2003.

Dr. Sen believes that the treatment and care of burn injured patients needs a team approach. He believes that all aspects of care, nursing, physical therapy, nutrition, respiratory care, social service need to be integrated with the medical care to provide the best treatment. This care also involves incorporating the patient and their loved ones in both the treatment and recovery from burn injuries. He believes this team approach will result in returning burn injured patients to a productive and meaningful life.
