Biography
Peter Stasikelis, M.D., grew up in Houston, Texas close to NASA. He has been interested in science and mathematics his whole life. After high school, he earned a bachelor's degree in chemistry and then a masters in mechanical engineering from MIT. He worked in industrial research for a few years, but did not find it fulfilling, so he went to medical school. He loved every area in medical school: internal medicine, pediatrics, urology, etc. However, when he was assigned an orthopedic rotation, he knew he had found his calling. He was able to apply his aptitudes in engineering to helping people with pain and orthopedic deformities. Dr. Stasikelis was fortunate that his medical training included time at a Shriners Children's. Here, his commitment to caring for children deepened and he was inspired by the care Shriners Children's provides.
Although he loves the technical side of medicine, his true passion is talking with his patients, listening to their plans and working with families to achieve the best for their children.
Dr. Stasikelis and his wife, Sharon, have three kids. His daughter is a Ph.D. mathematician, his older son a computer programmer and his youngest son is in college hoping to attend medical school. He says, "I guess the love for medicine, science and mathematics runs in the family."
