Casey Stondell, M.D., is originally from Northern California and was fortunate to complete part of his anesthesiology training at Shriners Children's Northern California in Sacramento. That experience helped shape his future career. He saw firsthand the elite care provided at Shriners Children's and it inspired him to become a pediatric anesthesiologist. After completing his training, he returned to Shriners Children's as a subspecialty board-certified pediatric anesthesiologist and considers himself lucky to be part of the team. Everyone in the department is passionate about providing safe anesthesia care for children utilizing the most up-to-date, evidence-based techniques currently available. Specifically, we utilize enhanced recovery after surgery protocols and regional anesthesia to ensure the quickest recovery possible, even after major surgery. The department is active in research and Dr. Stondell's areas of interest include regional anesthesia and enhanced recovery after surgery, especially in spine surgery.
