John D. Lubahn, M.D., received his medical degree at Case Western Reserve University. He completed a two-year general surgery residency, followed by a three-year residency in orthopedics, both at the University of Rochester. His final year of training was in hand and microsurgery with Harold Kleinert and Associates in Louisville. During that time, he felt fortunate to spend one month in Hamburg, Germany with Dieter Buck-Gramco, studying pediatric hand surgery.
Dr. Lubahn served as chairman, Department of Orthopedics at Hamot Medical Center in Erie, PA for over twenty years, retiring in 2019. For the past 15 years, he has served as the hand fellowship program director. He has written extensive articles and book chapters on numerous subjects ranging from extensor tendon injury to fracture treatment and reconstruction. Dupuytren's disease has been a major interest since his fellowship year. Dr. Lubahn's orthopedic specialty is primarily focused on hand and upper extremity conditions.
