Christina Kim, M.D., FAAP, grew up in Wisconsin. She completed undergraduate and medical school at the University of Wisconsin-Madison and finished her residency training at the University of Connecticut. She then completed a pediatric urology fellowship at the University of Pittsburgh.

She enjoys the balance of medical and surgical care provided in the field of urology, as well as working with children. Specializing in pediatric urology was a natural path for her. Dr. Kim has worked in the Northeast for the past 18 years, since she finished her subspecialty training.

A pioneer of robotics, Dr. Kim performed Connecticut's first pediatric robotic surgery in 2005.

Dr. Kim started working at Shriners Children's Springfield three years ago, stating, "It is a wonderful hospital with a unique culture of compassion and kindness." She also proudly provides care in Western Massachusetts where she is the only board-certified pediatric urologist in the area.

She understands what it is like to be both a provider and a patient's parent. Her daughter was born with a kidney abnormality and has been followed by a pediatric urologist for her entire life. This experience put a new perspective on patient visits, tests ordered and surgeries considered for Dr. Kim. She keeps this experience in mind as she cares for her own patients. When taking a history and making clinical decisions, she always engages the patients as well as their families.

Dr. Kim has been married for 20 years to her loving husband, Andy. She is the proud mother of three wonderful children and one fabulous labrador retriever. She enjoys being active outdoors as well as hot yoga. In her 40s she ran two marathons, but does not plan on running another one, after knee surgery three years ago.

During the COVID-19 pandemic, she began taking a second-language Korean class. As young adults, her parents immigrated from Korea and she still has many relatives in South Korea.

Dr. Kim is excited to continue providing care at Shriners Childrens Springfield.
