Biography

Michael S. Bednar, M.D., FAAOS, is a board-certified orthopedic hand surgeon with expertise in pediatric hand problems, carpal tunnel syndrome, wrist problems and spinal cord injury. In addition to his work at Shriners Children's Chicago, Dr. Bednar also serves as chief of hand surgery at Loyola University Medical Center and Edward Hines Jr. VA Hospital. He has been named a Top Doc in Chicago multiple times.

Dr. Bednar is president of the American Board of Orthopaedic Surgery. He is also a past president of the Chicago Society for Surgery of the Hand and a member of numerous professional organizations including the National Spinal Cord Injury Association. He is also a past recipient of the Sumner L. Koch Award from the American Society for Surgery of the Hand.

Dr. Bednar has led and contributed to numerous research projects and scholarly publications, and presented at regional and national conferences.
