She then attended Albany Medical College where she obtained an M.D., and Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health where she received an MPH.
In college, she traveled to Cambodia where she worked with orphans living on a buddhist commune. Back in the states, she volunteered as a court appointed special advocate for foster children. Dr. Badkoobehi then traveled to Durban, South Africa and shadowed an orthopaedic surgeon who provided care to an at-risk community. After medical school, she volunteered and researched at HEAL Africa in the Democratic Republic of the Congo.
