May brings spring flowers and graduations but it is also the month of another important celebration. May is National Nurses Month. Our healthcare system is celebrating with Nurses Week from May 6-12. This year's theme is "Nurses Make the Difference" which recognizes the spirit of compassion and care that nurses bring to their jobs in our pediatric facilities.
At Shriners Children's Chicago we're fortunate to have talented and specially trained nurse and nurse professionals in our administration and business operations, clinical care areas, surgery, pediatric intensive care unit and inpatient unit. Visitors to our hospital will see many colorful dress-up days during Nurses Week along with some staff celebrations. Look for crazy hat and hair day on May 12 if you are in our facility! Also, new this year, our own Thuan D. Dang, M.D., is leading a flower arranging class in a lunchtime program.
