Shriners Children’s Announced as Title Sponsor of College Baseball Showdown at Globe Life Field
Big 12 Conference members Texas Tech, Baylor and Oklahoma to take on Oregon, Tennessee and Nebraska in annual tournament at Home of Texas Rangers
Shriners Children’s was announced today as the title sponsor for the College Baseball Showdown at Globe Life Field as part of a multi-year agreement with REV Entertainment and the Texas Rangers. The Shriners Children’s College Showdown will take place at Globe Life Field February 16-18, 2024.
The 2024 tournament will mark the fourth year of the College Baseball Showdown at Globe Life Field. The three-day tournament features six of the top college baseball programs in the country – Baylor, Nebraska, Oklahoma, Oregon, Tennessee and Texas Tech.
“Throughout the past decade, our healthcare system has received incredible support from college baseball programs and their fans around the country,” said Bob Roller, vice president of sports for Shriners Children’s. “We are thrilled to establish our new partnership with the Texas Rangers and REV Entertainment to further advance our mission of providing life-changing medical care to children, regardless of their families’ ability to pay or insurance status.”
Shriners Children’s is one of the largest pediatric sub-specialty healthcare systems in the world, caring for children in more places – medical centers, hospitals, clinics, telehealth sites, outreach and community locations. Shriners Children’s has treated more than 1.5 million children since 1922.
The five-year agreement with Shriners Children’s includes various fundraising and promotional opportunities such as charitable donations per ticket sold to games during the tournament, as well as during additional college baseball tournaments played at Globe Life Field. The full schedule and field of additional games to be played will be announced later this summer.
“Shriners Children’s is a leader in healthcare and the community, and we are proud to partner with them on our premier tournament. Their approach to advancing children’s healthcare is world-class, and their commitment to using sports to spread awareness makes them the ideal partner for REV Entertainment and the Texas Rangers,” said Sean Decker, president of REV Entertainment. “We have another tremendous lineup of the top collegiate baseball teams in the country for the 2024 tournament. These teams and their supportive fans will again create an electric environment at Globe Life Field to kick off the college baseball season.”
Four of the programs have played at Globe Life Field: University of Oklahoma, University of Nebraska, Baylor and Texas Tech. University of Oregon and University of Tennessee will be making their Globe Life Field debut during the 2024 Showdown.
The Sooners lead both wins (9) and appearances (14) at Globe Life Field. Texas Tech will become the first program to make three appearances in the Showdown. Oregon will represent the Pac-12 Conference at the Showdown for the first time since the University of Arizona competed at the event in 2022.
Globe Life Field has been home to 60 college baseball games since 2021. The 2023 Showdown saw record-breaking attendance numbers of 52,078 fans over the course of three days. The inaugural tournament in 2021 was one of the highest-attended college baseball tournaments in the NCAA. In addition, 32 players from the 2022 College Baseball Showdown were drafted in the 2022 MLB draft.
All games of the 2024 Shriners Children’s College Showdown will once again be streamed live by FloSports, the exclusive broadcast partner for the tournament. Tickets will go on sale later this year with full details to be announced. For more information visit ShrinersShowdown.com.
