David Foye, PE, CHFM, of Swampscott, Massachusetts, has been elected Chair of the Board of Governors for Shriners Children’s Boston. Mr. Foye has been a member of the Board since 2015, most recently serving as Vice Chairman. He succeeds Dean Whalen, Esq., who has recently become an Emeritus Member.

Mr. Foye is a senior manager of engineering at Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center in Boston, Massachusetts. He previously served as a project engineer and manager for Massachusetts General Hospital and the William A. Berry Company, as well as several engineering consulting firms in Boston and upstate New York.

Mr. Foye became a Shriner in 1997, at the Aleppo Shrine Center in Wilmington, Massachusetts. Past Board Chair and fellow Cycle Unit Shriner Robert Baker approached Foye seven years later to suggest he become involved at the hospital level. “Bob is a diligent advocate for our pediatric patients, and it was impossible to say 'no,'” said Mr. Foye. “I have not regretted the decision to join the Boston Board of Governors and further support our mission for one moment.”

Mr. Foye graduated from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute with a BS in industrial and management engineering, and earned a professional engineering license in New York in 1988. He received a license in Massachusetts 10 years later, and became a certified health facilities manager in 2021.

Mr. Foye is an active member of the First Church in Swampscott, Congregational, Philanthropic Lodge in Marblehead, and Marblehead Little Theater, where he has appeared in plays and musicals since 2019.

As chairman, Mr. Foye remains committed to leading Shriners Children’s Boston in serving our patients with the highest quality healthcare in more places in the areas of burn care, cleft lip and palate care, and plastic, reconstructive and laser surgery. One of his goals is to enrich the relationships the hospital shares with area hospitals and doctors, while ensuring that the work of the Boston hospital supports the worldwide Shriners mission. “Throughout our history, our relationships with talented Boston doctors and their worldwide network of healthcare providers, combined with our dedication to service, have resulted in miracles for the children we serve,” reflected Mr. Foye.

Mr. Foye and his wife, Melissa, have two grown children, Michael and Amy, as well as three granddaughters; Evelyn, Harriet and Audrey.
