Leadership in Motion Analysis
Shriners Children's has one of the country's largest groups of pediatric motion analysis centers, staffed by therapists and biomedical engineers with expertise in providing gait analysis for children. A senior physical therapist from the Chicago location is taking a new leadership role using that expertise to help evaluate labs around the nation. Joe Krzak, PT, Ph.D., PCS, has joined the board of the Commission of Motion Analysis Laboratory Accreditation. He will serve as the board’s representative for the American Physical Therapy Association.
“Besides numerous motion analysis specific publications, Dr. Krzak is a content expert for a group sponsored by the Academy of Pediatric Physical Therapy, who are developing Clinical Practice Guidelines for instrumented gait analysis in the clinical management of children with cerebral palsy,” said Ross Chafetz, PT, DPT, Ph.D., MPH, corporate director of motion analysis centers for Shriners Children’s.
Krzak, who began at Shriners Children's Chicago as a volunteer while in high school, is currently the principal or co-investigator on several national research grants. He is also on the editorial board for Gait & Posture and has been a guest editor for Topics in Spinal Cord Injury Rehabilitation.
