There are walks, and then there is the Walk for LOVE™, a celebration of family, friends and community organized as a benefit for Shriners Hospitals for Children — Northern California. On Saturday, June 8, walkers of all ages will gather at the Northern California Shriners Hospital, 2425 Stockton Boulevard, for the 3rd Annual Walk for LOVE — a 1.5-mile fun walk and community celebration.
T-shirt pick-up begins at 8 a.m. The walk begins at 9 a.m. Fezzy, the official hospital mascot, and a host of Shriners will lead participants along a course dotted with entertainment stations that loops through the medical center campus. This year’s event includes a 5k race for those who prefer a longer, more competitive venue.
After crossing the finish line, the celebration continues with a family festival that includes a complimentary barbecue, music, entertainment and a special teddy bear clinic for kids lovingly dubbed as Fezzy’s Rescue Squad.
“The Walk for LOVE is organized to celebrate the care provided by Shriners Hospitals for Children and to thank the community for embracing our mission. We are grateful to the many individuals from all walks of life who support our hospital through volunteerism and monetary donations. The Walk for LOVE is a reflection of a caring community united by the belief that people can make a positive difference in the lives of others,” said Alan Anderson, Director of Development at the Northern California Shriners Hospital.
