Walk from Home 2020 – Walk for Love

Walk for Love

Additional Information

The WALK FROM HOME Walk for LOVETM is a health and fitness event open to everyone and appropriate for all ages. All proceeds from registration fees benefit Shriners Hospitals for Children — Northern California, helping to assure all children requiring specialized treatment receive the expert care they need, from birth to 18 years of age, regardless of the families’ ability to pay.

Traditionally, the Walk for LOVE & 5K provides participants with easy courses that include portions of the UC Davis Health campus and the beloved T Street in East Sacramento. The 2020 WALK FROM HOME course is a virtual experience that can be enjoyed on a mobile phone or computer – and includes a chat feature with friends and family also participating on the same course.  Steps accumulate any time you are using a fitness tracking device (mobile phone or commercial device) or may be manually entered using the website.  You participate at your pace, on your schedule and at any time, anywhere.

Child Participants

Parents or guardians may choose the username, avatar image and method of participation for their children.  Participants are identified on the course by username and avatar only, both of which are user or parent/guardian-defined.

Children with personal mobile devices or fitness trackers may participate similarly to adults with automatic updates to their daily course distance. Manual updates can be done on-demand to the website for children by parents or guardians, based on distance estimates.  A limited number of complimentary step trackers are available for children.  Parents or guardians should call Breanna Williams at (916) 453-2321.
