This past weekend, Matt Owston, Dr. Brian Haus, Dr. Deidre Bielicka and Registered Nurse Penny Graham participated in the Tahoe Tough Mudder to raise money for the treatment programs at Shriners Hospitals for Children – Northern California. This special group of Shriners Hospital employees were joined by Josh Henke, CALSTAR Flight RN; Casey Harrington, whose company, Smith & Nephew, supplies materials to our Pediatric Orthotic and Prosthetic Specialists and Dr. Jenny Boakes, who provided moral support.
“Our family is forever grateful to Dr. Haus and the extraordinary care Emma receives at Shriners Hospital,” Matt Owston said. “We know that she wasn’t Dr. Haus’ only patient, but he made us feel like she was,” Owston added. “Initially, his surgery saved Emma’s leg. Ever since, Dr. Haus and his team have helped our family heal.”
Dr. Haus leads the comprehensive team at Shriners Hospital that continues to care for Owston’s 10-year-old daughter Emma, following a life-threatening injury.
The Owston family served as the inspiration and team leads for the hospital’s participation. As a team, the Shriners Hospital Tahoe Tough Mudder team raised close to $10,000. Donations are accepted on their Tough Mudder fundraising page until June 17th.
