In January of 2012, four-year-old Cayman asked her Mom for a Pillow Pet for her birthday, not for herself, but for children at Shriners Hospitals for Children-Northern California. But Cayman didn’t want just one, she wanted 100. Her Mom loved this idea and wanted to help, so she asked for donations and started a Facebook page called Pillow Pets for Hospitalized Children. For the past three years Cayman and her family have donated over 1,000 new Pillow Pets to Shriners Hospital in Sacramento. Every year they try to collect 300-350 Pillow Pets to ensure hospitalized children receive a companion.
Cayman explained why she wanted to donate Pillow Pets, “I don’t want the kids to be lonely when the lights go out at night, or when their parents have to leave. The Pillow Pet can be their friend.”
We are so grateful to Cayman and her family for their generosity. The smiles and comfort you have provided to our patients is absolutely priceless. Thank you.
