Shriners Hospital welcomes Keith Powers

Shriners Hospitals for Children — Northern California welcomed actor and model Keith Powers for a visit earlier this week. Keith is a native of Elk Grove and is familiar with television and movie audiences for roles in Straight Outta Compton, Faking It, and  Recovery Road.  Keith has a television movie – The New Edition Story – and a television series – Famous in Love – in post-production to air in 2017. A Wilhelmina model, he appears in print ads in men’s fashion and lifestyle publications.

In an interview with the Sacramento Bee last year, Powers attributed much of his success to a grounded upbringing, attending public school and being exposed to a diverse community in south Sacramento. He expressed his desire to stay stay connected with the Sacramento community. In the article, he says:

“One day, I want help and inspire kids from Sacramento with seminars,” Powers said. “I want to show them that you have to evolve as a person and sometimes leave your comfort zone, even if it means bumping your head.”

After his visit to the hospital, Keith reached out to us and shared this feelings about his experience:

I would like to thank Shriners Hospitals for Children-Northern California for having me and my bro’s Dom and Darius. Meeting the different children who were patients at the hospital really made me put things into perspective, man. I catch myself complaining of the littlest things and meeting these children really hit my heart. I will always cherish meeting these patients. This is why we do what we do. To inspire the youth but to also give back and be real heroes, man. Thank you, Shriners!” – Keith Powers

Thank you, Keith, for your visit. We look forward to seeing you again and wish you tremendous success.
