Pediatric Colorectal Center (PCC)

Pediatric Surgeons at Shriners Hospitals for Children – Northern California work collaboratively with a multi-disciplinary team that includes urologists, pediatricians and advanced practice nurses to treat the individual needs of each patient. The goal of our colorectal center is to deliver leading edge care for children with both routine and complex colorectal conditions, including, but not limited to: Imperforate anus / anorectal malformations, Cloacal deformities and cloacal exstrophy, Hirschsprung disease, Rectal Prolapse and Familial Polyposis.

Children with colon and rectal diseases often suffer from more than physical symptoms. The social stigma these illnesses have can leave children feeling ashamed, depressed, and alone. We manage the entire spectrum of your child’s colorectal problem — from the medical to the mental and social. Our team provides complete treatment plans and family-centered care for each child’s unique case of colorectal disease.

Common colon and rectal problems we treat include:

Medical and Surgical Services

  • Appendicostomy (MACE)
  • Bowel Management
  • Cecostomy tube management
  • Colonic Irrigation
  • Enema Administration
  • Ostomy Closure
