A continuing education course for physical and occupational therapists, nurses, mid-level providers and early intervention providers (birth to 3 years), who assess and treat children with Congenital Muscular Torticollis (CMT).

This one-day course will provide the attendee with a thorough understanding of Congenital Muscular Torticollis and community partners. It willd describe how collaboration promotes the optimal delivery of care by involving the patient, the family, the medical team and community partners. The course will review appropriate evaluation, intervention, referral and discharge practices aligned with the Academy of Pediatric Physical Therapy’s Clinical Practice Guideline. Case studies will be presented allowing participants to actively problem solve, practice hands-on methods of measurement and intervention, and discuss coordination of care. Upon completion of this workshop, attendees will:
■ be familiar with the CMT Clinical Practice Guideline
■ know where to go for up-to-date information informing the care of infants and young children with CMT
■ be familiar with the model for managing the care of these infants and their families at Shriners Hospitals for Children — Northern California.
